Q: What are the basic requirements for this summer job?

A. To work for us, you must be at least eighteen, have a valid driver license, be able to lift 50 lbs., have a neat appearance, and be ready to climb ladders.

Q: How much money can I make this summer?

A: In 2008, the average student painter/foreman, that worked a minimum of 12 weeks, made $8702.35. For a high earning potential you must work 11 hours per day, 6 days per week, for a 12 week minimum. If you work the entire length of your agreement and receive a 5/5 rating on the client rating card 85% of the time, you also qualify for end of season bonuses.

Q: I can’t commit to working the entire summer. Will you still hire me?

A: If you are a good candidate for the summer job, then we will hire you. We would work out a compensation package that is fair to both of us.

Q: What is a 5/5 bonus?

A: When a project is completed the client rates the quality of our job. If a painter gets a rating of 5 out of 5, they receive a $1.00 bonus for every hour worked on that site.

Q: Why wouldn’t a customer give me a 5/5 rating on the client rating card?

A: A customer wouldn’t give a 5/5 if they felt the paint job was not being done as promised, or if the crew did not respect the wishes of the client.

Q: Where are the jobs sites that I’ll be working on?

A: We have clients throughout Portland metro area, Seattle metro area and SW Washington. Reliable transportation is a must.

Q: What is the difference between a painter and foreman?

A: The foreman is the primary job site contact for both the client and the production manager. Both employees are responsible for completing the paint job, but the foreman is in charge of communication.

Q: I’ve never painted before. Does that matter?

A: You do not need any painting experience. We have a training program to show you what you need to be a successful home painter.

Q: What happens when it rains?

A: As you may know, in the Portland metro area and Seattle metro area it rains from time to time. When it is wet out, you’ll be “on call” until 2 pm. If you haven’t been contacted by your manager by then, you will not be working that day.

Q: When will I start working and how long is the season?

A: It will depend on when your school ends and begins. Your student painter agreement will state the time frame that works for you, and is agreed upon once you are hired. The longer you work, the greater your earning potential will be.

Q: What makes TCP different than other summer painting companies?

A: Unlike some of our competitors, we require no financial investment or risk on your part. We are locally owned, and do not franchise.

Q: How do I apply?

A: Call 360-636-5505 to request an email application. The most qualified applicants will be contacted once applications are reviewed.
